Vinnare i första debatten: McCain och Warren

19 08 2008

Så här kommenterar Family Research Councils Tony Perkins den utfrågning Rick Warren höll mellan Barack Obama och John McCain: (utdrag)

With Sens. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) locked in a statistical dead heat, the stakes of the Saddleback Civil Forum with Rev. Rick Warren could not have been higher. Warren, who was urged to ask some weighty values questions, did not disappoint and drew some stark contrasts between the candidates on key issues.

To the question of marriage, Obama gave a textbook definition, “the union between a man and a woman.” He stated that “as a Christian, it’s a sacred union,” but when pressed if he would “support a constitutional amendment with [his] definition,” Obama replied, “No, I would not.” He said, “I am not somebody who promotes same-sex marriage,” despite his published letters to the contrary.

After the forum, I gave some of my perspective as part of CNN’s pre- and post-panel discussion from Washington. As I saw it, there were two winners-Sen. John McCain and Pastor Rick Warren.

Nog borde Dagen kunnat ha med något av det Perkins uttryckte i CNN:s paneldiskussion! FRC är trots allt en av USA:s största kristna opinionsbildare!
